Now it is possible to preserve and protect your lovely wedding gown so it can one day become 'historical' - a beloved heirloom - having been worn by generations of brides.

Museum conservators expect to extend the lifetime of textiles for 200 years by storing in acid-free box with acid-free tissue.

We use this packaging material for your gown after we have expertly and caringly cleaned it.

What really sets us apart from other cleaners, beside our cleaning experience is our method of packaging your gown

    • Completely archival; our storage box is acid-free, lignin-free, and buffered to keep it acid-free. Archival quality means suitable for contact with historic materials. The hope of the bride is that her wedding gown become 'historical', having been worn by many generations of brides.
    • Museum conservators had become concerned about the apparent deterioration (yellowing, brown spots, staining, streaking, friability, etc...) of some of their textiles stored in standard cardboard boxes. They finally realized that the boxes had become highly acid, causing the degradation of the paper and its consequent discoloration. The yellowing, browning, streaking of the paper was staining the textiles in contact with it, as well as acidifying the textiles themselves.

Therefore in 1978, museum conservators met with representatives of commercial paper companies to discuss producing boxes safe for costume storage.
    • The acid-free tissue used to cushion the folds of the gown and to help maintain the designer's delicate line and drape is ultra-porous because textiles need to breathe.
    • Extra long acid-free boxes are available for particularly full gowns or long accordion pleated skirts.
